Photo Drop-Off

The above photos were taken on my lovely, lovely day off Wednesday. I made breakfast and Allen and I ate it on the balcony as we enjoyed the warm, sunny weather. I then picked some flowers to put in my room and walked to campus to read and snap some more photos.

The below photos were taken by the wonderful and handsome Allen. He makes me smile and so do these photos. There's even a sneak peak of my favorite crop top I have that I "made" out of a dress I thrifted. We're making our weekly Friday trip to City Cafe tomorrow for breakfast and I am so excited. Do you have weekly things that you do?

Till next time,

Baddest Girl on Campus

Today was 85 degrees and sunny and was absolutely amazing. Allen and I rode our bikes to the square in Murfreesboro and checked out the shops. Jenna of Kitty Cat Stevens told me about these thrift shops on South Church Street, and I'm SO GLAD she did, because one of the antique shops is so utterly amazing, and the lady who owned it was super sweet. It had so many cool trinkets and furniture and I have my eye set on a pink 50s dress, and I'll be completely heart broken if it's gone the next time I go in with money. We also stopped by Little Shop of Records and picked up some Marvin Gaye, Cat Power and Simon and Garfunkel.   Allen has graciously moved his record player to my apartment which is apparently a huge deal, and I'm pretty grateful and stoked about that.

As far as my outfit goes, this is a shirt I made about a year and a half ago paired with this OH SO AMAZING SKIRT I FOUND IN OUTREACH THRIFT! It basically jumped into my arms, and it is now one of my favorites. It's so unique and colorful, and I feel like I should be frolicking in a field. I was super happy and confident in this outfit since I got 14 compliments in 3 hours. I even got told I was the "baddest girl on campus" and I'm never letting that comment be forgotten. Anyways, enough gloating here are more photos. I decided to try putting the text in the middle of the post to see if I like that better. I hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday. I'm so glad Spring is officially here...finally.

Gatlinburg

Excuse my absence, I was having too much fun in the mountains with my friends and family. Allen, Zack and I drove down to Gatlinburg, TN on Friday to meet up with my parents and some of our family friends. The cabin was absolutely gorgeous, and I wish I had gotten better pictures of everything, but I was too busy being immersed in everything to take pictures. I love photography and taking pictures for having memories to look back on, but sometimes you can end up being in the background and not actively involved in what's going on around you. That's why the second half of the pictures are taken with a cell phone.

Saturday we went to Dollywood, and it was our first time going. We got there pretty early so the lines were not as long as they were by the afternoon, so if you are going to go, I recommend going early or later in the afternoon. Lucky me, I got to see an outdoor show where they introduced a bunch of owls. Now I'm trying to convince myself that I can't have a small screech owl. The best ride there was definitely the Wild Eagle. The line was a 45 minute wait, which is great if you've ever been to theme parks, and it went by quickly. Like I said, we were there early and the line was not as long as it was mid-afternoon (My parents skipped it, because they said it was a 2 hour wait). There was a 3 story drop in the beginning, and it went straight into a loop, and I'm so glad I had not eaten yet, because my food would have been confused as to where to go. It was a 2 minute and 20 second adrenaline rush, and I would do it again and again. Later that night we ate at a place called Alamo (Zack thought it said Namo and we still haven't stopped picking on him for it). It was the best food I'd ever had at a restaurant. Everything I tried was amazing: the vegetables, the steak, the stuffed shrimp, the chicken, the rolls, even the mints they give you after the meal. I HIGHLY recommend it. It is a little pricey so be prepared (the entrees were about $15.99 to $25.99), but the meals are big enough to share, and it's seriously so good it's worth it.

On Sunday Allen, Zach and I decided to check out downtown Gatlinburg before we headed back towards Nashville, and went into all the different shops and walked down to the river. The shops were so neat and had cool vintage signs and arcade games that tell you how good of a kisser you are and what kind of lover you are (only 25 cents! whatta deal!). We also stopped by this record shop that had really funny signs up to stop people from stealing like that lady killer one above. I definitely prefer natural scenery and hiking, but cheap touristy attractions can be fun too, and Gatlinburg made it feel somewhat quaint with the big pots of colorful flowers, buildings with different architectural styles, and the different local businesses that make their own merchandise (we got to see a guy cutting out different wood art right in the shop). The river was also nice and beautiful and had a good many number of ducks who were really friendly until they figured out we didn't have any food (the devils!).

The weather was perfect, I got a great bit of sun and vitamin D, I got to spend some time with my family and friends, and for this I am so very thankful and I feel impeccable. How was your weekend?

Till next time,

Jess

Aberdeen

Tank:Outreach Thrift
Jeans:Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Gift/Dana Buchman
Bracelet:Gift

I have to introduce to you these fabulous, high rise, BGD skinny jeans! I have been wanting these puppies for YEARS, and the only place that seemed to be selling high rise jeans that I liked was Urban Outfitters. UO is just too pricey for me, and I was not going to pay $58 for jeans plus shipping. Well last week I got an email from Urban about free shipping, and I thought, "Oh cool, but I'm still not paying $58 for a pair of jeans." UNTIL! I saw that all jeans were $39. It isn't thrift store prices, but y'all I have been wanting these jeans for "YEARS," so I bought them without hesitation after searching through reviews for help on sizing. I've worn these pants out twice now, and I feel so confident and unbelievably comfortable because of the stretchy fabric. Although this outfit may make it seem like it's sunny and warm here, it was overcast and didn't break 50 degrees today, and I could just outright scream. I wore a cardigan and my leather jacket over the tank, but my poor tootsies about froze off by the end of the day from exposure. Much to my dismay it's supposed to be like this the rest of the week. I'm about to go to the weather manager and give him a piece of my mind. "It is Spring!" is what I will keep yelling until the people in control of the weather will wake up and make spring-like weather happen.

Here's a song that's been stuck in my head all day. I want to start adding in music to my posts again, because it puts me in good moods, and maybe it'll put you in a good mood too =].

Happily Miserable

Tank:Target
Skirt:Vintage/Outreach Thrift
Shoes:Thrift
Necklace:Thrift
Bangles:?
Earrings: Vintage/Thrift

I decided to call this my "Channeling Enid" outfit, because she wears the prettiest skirts with the neatest accessories you'd ever seen (also because this skirt looks a lot like this skirt of hers and the earrings remind me of her). I even upped my accessory wearing today in honor of her. She's the coolest person ever, and it's probably a good thing she lives far away, because I'd basically move in without asking (Is that creepy?). Today was warm and real sunny, and I have a rosy nose, because I sat outside and read more on Anna Karenina for about an hour and a half. Allen, Zach and I then went to Moe's, and I ate my body weight in chips. If I wasn't full enough then, Allen and I biked to Sonic, and I scarfed down an Oreo blast like I'm not lactose intolerant and like it isn't going to rip out my stomach later. I should just call this day, "Jessica makes herself happily miserable." Oh it was so worth it though it was such a lovely day. I'm overfull, sun burnt, and my legs are on fire from biking, and it's such a glorious feeling. How was your Monday?

Till next time,

Jess
