Beauty is Embarrassing

Dress-F21
Chiffon Skirt-eBay
Tights-F21
Shoes-F21
Necklace-F21

I'm in a big hurry today so the text will be short. How darling is this skirt? I got it off eBay for $7. I already have a matching black one, and I loved it so much that I decided to get more colors. I wore it over my Forever21 dress that's too short to wear it as a dress. I just love the detail of the lace peter pan collar. I had such a wonderful day yesterday and today will be even better. After class I will be watching a documentary called "Beauty is Embarrassing" on Wayne White an MTSU alumni who is an American artist, art director, cartoonist and illustrator. I will have to tell you all about it tomorrow since I need to catch the bus to class!

Till next time,

Tights-TJMAXX $3
Boots (New and the heel isn't falling apart! Thanks Mom&Dad!)-Candies-$65

I'm very happy to be back to having things to do and places to walk to. I was getting a bit cabin fever back at my house although I loooooooooved the sunshine and warmth. My flight yesterday was jam packed as were the airports, but it was quick and easy and a lot better than driving 6 hours. I also got to see some sun and upper 50's weather when I got back to the Boro! Allen and I ended up walking to the Boulevard Bar and Grill which is about one and a half miles from my apartment. Both of us have our cars in the shop, but it was warm enough to where the walk was a complete joy and had we had cars we still probably would have walked. I had the turkey avocado wrap, and it was so delicious I could have wept. I need to start buying avocados since I enjoy them on pretty much everything. Today there are scattered thunderstorms, and I have the windows open enjoying the sound while I watch Lord of the Rings (Two Towers is on as we speak), do laundry and wait for my Biology lab at 4. It's been a wonderfully relaxing two days, and I am in the best of moods. How is your Monday going?

Till next time,

Accidentals

Button up-Vintage find
Shorts-F21
Oxfords-F21
Sunglasses-F21

Accidentals in music are notes that are not of the scale or in the key signature, but still sound sweet and really add to the composition. That's what happened with my outfit today. It's not at all what I would normally wear, but it works so well, and I'm so in love. The shorts were a Forever21 purchase a few weeks back, and they ended up way too big. They were on clearance for $6, and there weren't any left so I couldn't exchange them. I absolutely love the tapestry look they have though and their silky material on my legs. Here's the story of how this outfit came to be: I slept in this 1980's over-sized button up I got from a friend's mother the night before. When I woke up I stood there staring at these shorts trying to figure out what in the world to wear with them with what little I had brought home with me. I thought if I put them on I could just try different shirts out to see which one I liked the most. Immediately upon putting them on, I noticed that the blue in the button up matched the blue in the shorts. I ran to the bathroom to look in the big mirror and loved the way they looked together. I would have never in a million years paired these together, but I'm smitten with this outfit now. My figure may be swallowed up in the over-sized shirt and shorts, but I'm comfy, and I like the look. As soon as I finish this blog post I'm going to go run around outside and enjoy the cool breeze and warm sun. Only 1 more day of Spring break so I might as well spend ever second enjoying this sweet vacation.

Till next time,

Jess

20 something

I got a comment yesterday about how I looked like a high schooler, and I let out a disappointed "Yeeeesh." Everyone wants to look younger it seems, but I do not want to look like I need my mother to drive me around. So I decided to make a more 20 something year-old outfit today using the cardigan I wore yesterday.

Cardigan-F21
Pants-Kohls
Shoes-Tommy Hilfiger

That piano is my heart and soul (heh a pun, but I seriously hate that song). It was my great-grandmother's on my father's side who used to play for silent films. I love that piano and get very protective over it (my sister felt there needed to be permanent marker and tape on the keys at one point- I was SEETHING). My mother got me out of the house yesterday and took me shopping where I picked up these pants and shoes. I've been wanting some colored skinnies for a while, and these were on clearance for $10! The shoes are going to get a lot of miles out of them, and I'm so glad that they'll go with close to anything. I'm lucky to have a wonderful mom, Thanks Mom, I love you! Later on today I think I'll be joining my mother at my sister's horse back riding lesson. Maybe I'll get some cool pictures there!

Till next time,

Jess

Freckles

It was supposed to be rainy and cloudy today, but, as you can see, it stayed sunny and warm. I'm enjoying my peaceful spring break with nothing to do. I've just been walking around barefoot not worrying about getting a chill or needing a sweater and I love it. I also noticed I have a whole new batch of freckles coming in on my arms and legs while the others are getting darker. I just wish I had more freckles on my face. I started rereading this book my great-grandmother Judy got me a while ago called "Almost French." It's a true story about an Australian woman who goes back to stay with a man she met in Paris on a backpacking trip across Europe. It's extremely charming and a good, light read. I thought it would be perfect for me to read in the sun over the course of the week. How would you spend your spring break if you didn't have anywhere to go?

Till next time,

Jess
