Hey gals. Today's post is meant to be a pick me up for me. I've been feeling really homesick, and honestly I've been losing sight of why I'm in Tennessee. I've been crying on the phone to Patrick questioning my choices and also feeling really lonely. Moving on your own to a different state, and leaving behind friends and loved ones is really, really hard. Today I decided to stop moping around and feeling sorry for myself and really focus on what I love about this town. I rode my bike down to Pa Bunk's organic store and really took in the scenery and favorite houses. I even was able to get incredibly close to a butterfly and see some remnants from the homecoming parade last Saturday. I'm sorry for the somewhat morose feel to this post, but I hope these beautiful pictures of my town make up for it. The leaves are just starting to change, and it's getting down into the lower 40's. By late October this place will be GORGEOUS. I'll have to take more pictures then to show ya!
It's going to be tough and there will be more tears shed, but there will also be laughter and fun memories made. I can do this.
Here's my current favorite song. I heard it first whenever I watched The Vicious Kind with Adam Scott a year and a half ago (Which is a good movie you should definitely see it!). It heightens so many emotions in me, and I end up playing it 5 or 6 times on repeat. Gosh, I could make an entire post just on this song. I also thought it was very relevant since it's about home.
Till next time,
Jess
Sorry to hear you are feeling blue, feeling homesick is horrible, I am sending you a virtual hug! These are beautiful pictures, Tennessee has always been on my list of places I would like to visit one day. We are just about to enter a long hot summer here so I am feeling very envious of your cooler weather. I am not made for Australian summers xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the virtual hug! Tennessee is very beautiful, and the people are definitely some of the friendliest I've ever met. I always get a teeny bit mixed up whenever I see blog posts from people in Australia, and see warm weather when it's cool weather here! haha I hope you are able to brave the summer and stay cool. I hope the Twiglet (gosh, I love your name) family is doing well!
DeleteWest Australian summers are the worst, especially because we have no air conditioning :( I have lived in Australia for 8 years now and still cant get used to having a stinking hot Christmas!
DeleteThe Twiglet family is going great thanks, in two weeks we are adding to our flock with three chickens, I am beside myself with excitement!! x
I know your pain, a few years ago I packed everything up and moved across the country from my family to Detroit of all places! I found taking little trips about town and doing the things I love really helped out. Looks like your on a good track, just remember the freedom you have! :D Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteOh I've heard a lot about Detroit I hope you're enjoying yourself there! Thanks for the comment, you're right there is freedom and feeling like an adult that comes with being here, and those are 2 very big things for me!
Deletelol, I actually left there after 8 months to start school in San Francisco... apparently Im a glutton for punishment :)
DeleteHey Jess! Just wanted to say keep your chin up! You've done a really brave thing, and I know how you feel..I've been getting really homesick too lately! But your going to learn and grow so much - it looks like you already are! Sending you a smile and cheesy thumbs up!
